Now this is a gut punch from the past! I used to replay Riddle School a lot during 2020 and 2021. Hell, when I had no internet for two weeks, the only games I could play on my computer were the Legacy editions of the whole series.
This game feels just as frustrating as RS3, which, hey, guess replicates the original series well enough. The new art looks exactly like how RS4 would've looked, though the cutscenes are a little rough. Some twists intrigued me, like when the bell actually rang and Phil had to go to another classroom, and that ending is badass! A few of the puzzles confused me, like the paintbrush, and I get why you scaled back the map since there are a lot of dead ends, but I appreciate the items disappearing from the inventory after they've run their course.
I'm really glad you took the time and effort to make the game that never was, 14 years after the school escape series dropped into a pit of lava and reincarnated as a sci-fi getaway from aliens and Goat-Man. Nothing wrong with the later games (except for those stupid tile puzzles in RS5), but it's awesome to see what probably could've been the true finale to this (truly) old-school series. Nice job!
